Toxic eczema

Eczema due to noxious substances. Common causative agents are detergents, water, substances with a high pH, lipid solvents etc. Diaper dermatitis is also a form of toxic eczema. Skin lesion usually seen in hand, starting between the fingers, back of the hand spreading later to the palm. Symptoms are better when the irritant is avoided. Avoidance of the irritating factor, use of plastic gloves, moisturizing emollients should be used regularly to protect the skin. Corticosteroid creams are usually effective.
