Tinea

Several species of dermatophytes infect humans; these belong to the Epidermophyton, Microsporum, and Trichophyton genera Dermatophytosis (tinea) is a fungal infection caused by dermatophytes. Clinically, tinea infections are classified according to the body region involved. Tinea may be treated with topical agents (i.e. creams, lotions, solutions, powders, sprays) or with oral antifungals in extensive or recalcitrant disease.
