A lump on the neck

A large proportion of lumps situated outside the thyroid gland are malignant.Most malignant lumps are metastases of tumours in the neck or head. About one in every ten abnormal lumps that differ from a normal lymph node is malignant. Ultrasonography + fine-needle biopsy form main part of the investigations.
