Ascariasis

Ascaris lumbricoides is a 15-35 cm long and 0.3-0.6 cm wide intestinal roundworm.. Ascariasis is worldwide in distribution and is very common in developing countries. Ascariasis should always be treated. Treatment for ascariasis should precede treatment of other intestinal worms. The drug of choice is a single dose of albendazole.
