Psoriasis

Psoriasis is a chronic skin disease characterized by accelerated epidermal turnover and hyperplasia. Clinically it manifests as well defined erythematous papules and plaques covered with silvery scales. Treatment of localized psoriasis is with topical steroids, coal tar and anthralin. Generalized psoriasis is treated with Ultraviolet-B (UV-B) light, (PUV-A), retinoids and immunosuppressive drugs.
