Pediculosis
The 3 types of lice that parasitize humans are Pediculus humanus capitis (head louse), Pediculus humanus corporis (body louse), and Pthirus pubis (pubic louse). Treatment involves local application of: permethrin, pyrethrins, lindane or malathion. Pediculosis has a cure rate higher than 90% with appropriate treatment. Recurrence is common.
