Scabies
Scabies is an intensely pruritic and highly contagious infestation of the skin caused by a mite affecting humans and other animals. The arachnid itch mite, Sarcoptes scabiei var hominis, causes human scabies. The burrow is pathognomonic of scabies infestation. Treatment should be prescribed for patients, household members, and close personal contacts. Treatment options include lindane, permethrin cream, or crotamiton lotion and cream.
