Audiometry

Audiometry is the single most relevant investigation of impaired hearing (deafness). It is used to diagnose, differentiate sensory deafness from conductive deafness and monitor the progression of deafness. It also helps in deciding the type of hearing aid to be advised.

The term is derived from 'audire' (to hear) and 'metrios' (to measure).
