Benign positional vertigo

Recognize benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV) as the most common cause of vertigo. Avoid unnecessary investigations, consultations, and ineffective drugs. The disease is probably caused by sludge in the posterior semicircular canal of one ear (rarely of both ears) causing an intensive attack of vertigo on change of body posture. Drug treatment is ineffective.
