Chest X-ray (child) with respiratory infection
When to ask for chest X-ray while treating a child with cough and fever, is always a dilemma. Asking a X-ray too late results in morbidity and asking too early may miss the diagnosis. Decision should be based upon general condition of the child with positive chest findings. Interpretation should always be done in correlation with clinical findings. Fever, undiagnosed focus of infections, diminished breath sounds are some of the important clues to ask for Chest X-ray.
