Diagnosis of heart failure
Heart failure is a clinical syndrome characterized by high mortality, frequent hospitalization, reduced quality of life, and a complex therapeutic regimen. Diagnosis of heart failure is difficult as the main presenting symptom of dyspnoea is also predominantly present in asthma. Appropriate treatment if not instituted in time, may prove to be catastrophic. Diagnosis is based on history, examinations and baseline investigations. Echocardiography is the gold standard in diagnosis of heart failure.
