Acute Heat Illnesses
The major heat related illnesses are heat exhaustion and heat stroke. They are complicated by dehydration, electrolyte imbalance and failure of thermoregulatory mechanisms. Heat exhaustion is an acute heat injury with hyperthermia caused by dehydration. Heat stroke is extreme hyperthermia caused by thermoregulatory failure.
