Coeliac Disease
Suspect coeliac disease in infants and children with history of chronic diarrhoea, distension of abdomen and weight loss or failure to thrive with evidence of deficiency of nutrients especially iron or calcium. Diarrhoea, Stools loose to soft, large, floating, oily or greasy, and foul smelling, may also be watery and frequent in number (up to 10-12 daily) are the commonest symptoms.Gluten free diet provides relief within 4 weeks.
