Recognizing mental health problems during pregnancy and treating symptoms associated with common ailments, such as nausea, heartburn, constipation, cramps, headaches, depression, rhinitis and backache is an important part of antenatal care who develop a mental or physical health problem during pregnancy. Almost every pregnant mother complains of nausea but hospitalisation is required in severe cases. Heartburn is common towards the end of the pregnancy. Pregnancy causes relaxation of muscles and may increase constipation. Depression is a ubiquitous disorder in childbearing women with up to 10% of women experiencing depression in pregnancy. Families should be able to support women with mental health problems.
