Pinworm (Enterobiasis)
Pinworm (Enterobius vermicularis /threadworm) infestation is one of the common types of intestinal parasite. It uses the body as a host for reproduction, matures in the intestine and then travel through the digestive system to lay eggs in the anal area. Pinworm is either asymptomatic or causes itching and mild digestive problems. Diagnosis is often made clinically by observing the female worm in the peri-anal region. Pyrantel pamoate, mebendazole and piperazine citrate are commonly used to treat pinworm.
