Hodgkin's Lymphoma

HL is predominantly a B-cell malignant disorder that affects the reticuloendothelial and lymphatic systems. Patients commonly present with persistent painless adenopathy, unresponsive to antibiotic therapy or mediastinal mass on X ray. Diagnosis is confirmed by lymph node biopsy. HL is one of the most curable malignancies of childhood and adolescence. HL can be cured with radiation therapy alone, chemotherapy alone, or a combination of both. Most treatment strategies focus on reducing late effects of therapy while maintaining excellent cure rates with risk-adapted chemotherapy alone or response-adjusted combined-modality regimens.
