Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH)
The diagnosis of benign prostatic hyperplasia is based on symptoms and basic investigations. Other causes of voiding disturbances (prostate cancer in particular) are excluded. The symptoms of BPH includes obstructive symptoms and iritative symptoms. Medical management is with the use of a blockers and 5a reductase inhibiors. Transurethral Resection of Prostate (TUPR) is still the 'gold standard' for surgical management.
