Retention of Urine
The common causes of retention of urine are urethral stricture, impacted stone, BPH, carcinoma prostate, neurological disorders, postoperative pain and immobility, urethral trauma and meatal stenosis. Perform single catheterization if the retention is not large. A large retention without anatomical catheterization problems can be treated with an indwelling silicone catheter. Aim at removing the catheter within 3 days.
