Transient loss of consciousness may be due either to epileptic seizures, TIA, panic attacks, migraine, sleep disorders and cardiac arrhythmias. Detailed history and a meticulous examination covering cardiology, neurology, psychological medicine are mandatory for differential diagnosis. Commonly used investigations are ECG, CBC, complete metabolic screen, emergency CT scan if the condition demands and EEG for later evaluation are indicated.
