Prolonged cough in children
The causes of prolonged cough are hyper-reactivity after an infection, allergic rhinitis, asthma , pulmonary eosinophilia ,tuberculosis and foreign body. The majority of prolonged cough illnesses are allergic, post infectious or viral in nature and do not require antibiotic therapy. Children with reactive airway disease respond dramatically to bronchodilator therapy, with resolution of cough and documented improvement in airway reactivity
