Growth disturbances in children
Analyzing the growth curves of children is essential for diagnosis of growth disturbance. The non-endocrine causes of short stature can be divided into constitutional delay of growth and sexual development, familial short stature and chronic diseases of childhood. One of the common genetic causes of short stature is Down's syndrome. Causes of tall stature include constitutional tall stature, i.e. tall parents, true precocious puberty, chromosomal abnormalities: XXY, XYY endocrine disease, Marfans syndrome etc.
