Puberty changes in girls
Before any pubertal changes are visible, hormonal changes have begun for a couple of years. This system of hormonal signaling takes 2-3 of years to become fully established, but once it does, the visible pubertal changes begin to take place.
Unlike boys, in girls puberty follows a fairly consistent sequence. Physical changes are classified on a scale of 1 to 5, called Tanner staging. Tanner staging is done to assess both breast and pubic hair changes.
