Management of Pulmonary Tuberculosis

Suspect tuberculosis in any patient presenting with persistent cough in spite of adequate treatment, prolonged pyrexia, hemoptysis, anorexia. Confirm with Sputum for AFB and/or Chest X-ray. Monitoring of HIV status and blood sugar levels are important. After appropriate AKT one has to demonstrate sputum AFB negative at the end of 6 months.
