URTI's
The commonly encountered URTIs are rhinitis, sinusitis, pharyngitis, tonsillitis epiglottitis and laryngitis. The organisms causing URTI include viruses (Rhinoviruses, RSV, Adenoviruses, Influenza, and Parainfluenza); Group A streptococci (pharyngitis), other streptococci -S. pneumoniae(sinusitis, Group B - pneumonia of infants) and other microorganisms - C. diphtheriae, M.pneumoniae, fungi and parasites. Antimicrobial therapy should be started after initial diagnostic tests have been performed / diagnosis is established
