New Diet and Lifestyle Recommendations Issued by the American Heart Association
American Heart Association (AHA) issued the new diet and lifestyle recommendations, based on a review of more than 90 scientific publications by a panel of nutrition and cardiovascular disease experts.
The new recommendations are "intentionally flexible to meet the unique needs for growth, development and aging," and they can be applied to the clinical management of patients with or at risk for cardiovascular disease, although for certain patients at higher risk the recommendations may need to be intensified, the authors stress.
