Compulsory duty of a Medical Practitioner

These relate to:

  • Compulsory notification- births, deaths, infectious diseases, and food poisoning from a restaurant. In some states, industrial diseases are notifiable.
  • Responsibilities to the state-
    • responding to the emergency military service
    • reporting cases of homicidal poisoning or suspected homicidal injuries, such as stab or gunshot wounds
    • reporting certain cases coming under the category of privileged communication, especially, as regards, moral and social duties, and responsibility in criminal matters
    • reporting unnatural deaths, and
    • reporting suspected abuse of children, spouse, or elderly, in some countries.
