Snake bite

Snake venom varies in potency and action, but several syndromes can be distinguished following bite by venomous snake which include neurotoxicity, systemic toxicity including hypotension and shock, coagulopathy, Rhabdomyolysis, renal failure and local tissue necrosis. The steps in the management of snake bite are first aid, clinical and laboratory assessment, acute management and administration of antivenom.
