Haemolytic Anaemia
Hemolytic anaemia may occur due to hereditary disorders, acquired conditions and drugs. In every case, one has to ascertain the presence of haemolysis and uncover the specific diagnosis, i.e. the aetiopathogenesis of the haemolytic condition. A complete hemogram, peripheral smear examination and reticulocyte count are the basic investigations. Further tests are done based on the clinical presentation and results of initial investigations. Treatment depends on the specific condition.
