Muscles of the Lower Limb
While examining Musculo-Skeletal System, it is imperative that we are aware of the muscle groups responsible for various movements. The lower limb is subdivided by the hip joint, knee joint and ankle joint. Movements involved are dorsiflexion, plantar flexion, flexion, extension, adduction and abduction. Muscles involved are tibialis anterior, gastrocnemius, soleus, biceps femoris, semimembranosus, semitendinosus, rectus femoris, vastus medialis, vastas lateralis, tensor fasciae latae, iliopsoas group, adductor group, gluteus medius, biceps femoris, semimembranosus, semitendinosus, gluteus maximus, biceps femoris, adductor group and iliopsoas group.
